First-half

Slough lost their first game of the season away to Sunbury on Saturday. The game was better contended than the score line suggests, with Sunbury taking their chances and Slough failing to move effectively from defence to attack.  Generally the game progressed with a lethargic feel from both sides. Slough had a tendency to make good breaks but then lose possession due to sloppy passing or control, immediately putting pressure back on themselves. That is not to say that there were not good performances with Gurdeep Benawra putting in excellent energy and composure in midfield before moving into defence later in the game.

Second-half

In the second half, Slough actually played worst than in the first half and conceded 2 more goals before finally getting a consolation, straight strike, short corner goal after a number of missed opportunities.  There was a short period of pressure leading up to the goal but Slough were unable to extend their momentum even though they had a couple of half chances and deflections went wide.

Overall, Sunbury deserved to win with Slough unable to exert enough pressure in the opponents D and insufficient shots on target.
