Slough Star Youngster – Arron Thind

Slough 3’s can boast the entrance of another superb youngster, Arron Thind.  At the tender young age of 13 years Arron has burst onto the scene scoring his second hat-trick in consecutive weeks to help his team to an excellent win.  Slough lead the MBBO Open Div 5 in style having gained promotion last year.

Slough started the game in a very positive mood following the 10-1 demolition of Eastcote the previous week when again Arron had ripped apart the defence.

Slough’s first goal came from great teamwork with Apinder Teja, so often a goalscorer, laying the ball on for Surjit Sandhu who flicked it in skilfully.  Surjit was then wasteful on several opportunities and could have notched up a hat trick within 15 minutes. However, it was Sukhi Panesar who popped up and grabbed the second.  Arron having missed a couple of difficult opportunities, then scored a brilliant first goal deflecting coolly into the net.  He was again on target within a few minutes poaching the ball off a defender and scoring from what seemed an impossible position.

Slough were in complete comtrol with Sukhi Panesar and Rav Laly running the midfield and the Sandhu brothers, Parm and Papu marshalling the defence.  Rav showing his calibre by laying on many excellent goal opportunities.  Slough were only kept down to a 4-0 lead by some great goalkeeping from the Leighton Buzzard keeper.

Second-half

The second half saw Slough start positively and again it was club chairman Surjit Sandhu who struck very early to make it 5-0 to Slough. Arron delivered some excellent teamwork by also working hard in defence stopping Leighton Buzzard’s attacks on several occasions.

As Slough attacked brilliantly, both strikers Surjit and Arron were looking for their hat tricks.  Arron delivered an excellent pass to Surjit and Surjit delivered the goal to get his hat trick.   The favour was returned shortly afterwards as Slough worked an excellent short corner and Arron was perfectly placed to score his second hat trick in two weeks.

At 7-0 up, Slough’s defence were caught out when a rare Leighton Buzzard attack resulted in a consolation goal. Slough were in relaxed mood and with defenders joining in the attack, it was Parm Sandhu who came through with the finishing goal to make it an impressive 8-1 win to Slough.

The team were over the moon with young Arron’s great performance.  Striking partner and club chairman, Surjit Sandhu, who has run development teams at Slough for over 20 years said “Arron is probably the best youngster I have seen at Slough. His unassuming manner and his great attitude are a delight to observe. He keeps his feet firmly on the ground and is prepared to listen and learn all the time. Expect great things from Arron in the years ahead”
